Carole Laude Pechi has twenty years of experience in the commercial real estate industry as a business person, client, and attorney, with experience both as in-house counsel at commercial real estate companies and outside counsel. While earning her law degree, Ms. Pechi began her career in the real estate industry at JMB Realty in Chicago, Illinois. As the vice president in charge of lease administration, she was responsible for the department that negotiated leases for JMB’s shopping center and development portfolio and was directly responsible for the negotiation of leases for approximately 40 shopping centers. At JMB Realty she also became involved with the development of restaurants, mall expansions and ground up development.
After her admission to the Illinois state bar in 1990, Ms. Pechi joined a nationally recognized real estate developer, Homart Development Co., in their Community Centers division, where she was one of two attorneys responsible for the acquisition, development, leasing and disposition of community shopping centers throughout the United States. In 1995, after the disposition of Homart, Ms. Pechi became associated with a law firm where she focused on a general real estate law practice, including leasing, acquisition and dispositions, development, lending and TIF financing. Ms. Pechi continued in general real estate law practice, with a strong focus in retail acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and development matters, for five years at what is now DLA Piper Rudnick, and for three years at Holland & Knight. At Holland & Knight she was a Partner and the Pro Bono Partner for the Real Estate section in the Chicago office promoting pro bono lawyering among her colleagues while also handling pro bono transactions and cases, in addition to her general real estate law practice.
Ms. Pechi has been a frequent speaker at the International Council of Shopping Centers (“ICSC”) annual law conferences and ICSC CenterBuild Conferences. She is on several Editorial Boards and has written or contributed to numerous articles. Ms. Pechi is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers and CREW. She is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Ms. Pechi received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1984. She earned her law degree from Illinois Institute of Technology-Chicago Kent College of Law in 1990, where she was the recipient of an American Jurisprudence Award in Labor Law. |
